The journey

The Indian Pacific runs between Sydney, on the Pacific Ocean, and Perth, on the Indian Ocean, and can be travelled in either direction.

Along the way it climbs through the Blue Mountains, passes Broken Hill and Adelaide, and crosses the Nullarbor Plain, where the line runs dead straight for 478 kilometres: the longest straight stretch of railway in the world.

Off the train

Stops along the way bring the outback up close, such as the tiny settlement of Cook in the middle of the Nullarbor, and an evening at Rawlinna with dinner beside the train under the stars.

What is included varies with the direction and the departure, and Nancy will tell you what is planned for yours.
